About 10 days after a 45-year-old woman claimed she was kidnapped and gang-raped in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, police have found that her story was false.
Earlier, the woman had said she was abducted, gang-raped, shot, and left to die. But after an investigation, it was found that no one shot her. Instead, she had a bullet surgically planted in her body to falsely accuse a politician and his son. This shocking twist has raised serious questions about the case and the woman's motives.
The case took a surprising turn nearly 10 days after the woman’s shocking claims of abduction, gang rape, and being shot came to light on March 30. Bareilly’s Additional SP Manush Pareek told Hindustan Times that although the woman said she was shot, medical tests showed no trace of gunpowder, raising doubt about her story.
When confronted with evidence during questioning, the woman confessed that she had made up the incident. CCTV footage also exposed the truth, showing her arriving at the scene in an auto-rickshaw, completely different from her claim of being thrown out of a car after the alleged assault.
The woman eventually admitted duri ng questioning that she had the bullet surgically inserted into her body by a local quack named Sharif Khan. According to police, the plan was arranged by her old associate Rohtash, who works at a district hospital. He reportedly approached some government doctors first, but when they refused, he found the quack to carry out the surgery.
“They thought that once the police saw a bullet wound, they would have no choice but to believe her story, especially if she stated a judge,” an official told Hindustan Times. “But when there was no gunpowder around the wound, the whole plan started to fall apart.” The police have now taken the woman and the two men involved into custody. However, no formal complaint has been filed yet.
