A tragic incident took place on the Purvanchal Expressway where a 65-year-old man fell to his death while spitting tobacco from a moving bus. 


The deceased identified as Ram Jiyawan, resident of Chhatri Road, Chinhat, a farmer, was traveling from Lucknow to his village in Azamgarh at the time of the incident. He passed away under unfortunate circumstances, and authorities are currently investigating the incident. 

According to the bus driver, the man was chewing tobacco and opened the bus door to spit it out. However, he lost balance, slipped, and fell from the vehicle. Due to severe injuries, the man died on the spot.

After the incident, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and local police immediately arrived at the location. The man was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Sub-Inspector Ramdev Kumar confirmed that the deceased's family had been informed, and the body was sent for a postmortem examination.

According to reports, SHO Dheeraj Kumar stated that the victim's son and daughter-in-law, both police constables, have submitted a written statement requesting no further action or investigation into the matter. However, he clarified that a preliminary inquiry would still be conducted, as per standard operating procedure in cases of death.

"Although prima facie, it appears to be an accidental death, we have also taken statements from other passengers," he added.
