The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Lucknow held a special training session on Sunday to teach MLAs how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for better governance and communication. The session was called“Empowering Public Representatives: Strengthening Communication and Governance through AI”and included a workshop led by a professor from IIT Kanpur, along with a question-and-answer round.

Congress MLA  Aradhana Misra-Mona welcomed the move, saying that AI is the future and will make many processes simpler, especially for public representatives. She noted that the Assembly has already been made digital, and the use of AI will further improve its efficiency.

UP Minister Asim Arun said the use of AI will help improve Assembly proceedings and speed up development work. He explained that the session showed how AI is being used worldwide and how it can benefit the public. Minister Jaiveer Singh added that the government is ready to address all concerns raised by the opposition and highlighted that a vision document for making UP a $1 trillion economy by 2047 will be presented.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Assembly’s renovated dome, Assembly Hall No. 15, the VIP lounge, and the renovated Mandap ahead of the Monsoon Session, which began today. An all-party meeting was also held to discuss the session.

From this Monsoon Session, the Assembly will begin a pilot project using state-of-the-art AI cameras. These cameras will be fully implemented in the Winter Session. The AI system will use facial recognition to identify MLAs, track their attendance, note how long they stay, record the topics they speak on, and even analyse the content of their speeches.

Officials say the new technology will make the work of MLAs more transparent and improve both security and performance tracking inside the Assembly.
