Tourists visiting the historic Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace at Nandigiridhama in Karnataka were shocked to find the name “Lawrence Bishnoi” carved into the monument’s front wall. The incident is believed to have taken place on October 24, according to initial reports.

The palace, once used as a summer retreat by Tipu Sultan, is a protected heritage site under the state’s Archaeology Department.

Even though the palace complex is equipped with security cameras, officials said that the camera covering the defaced area was not functioning at the time. Because of this, the person responsible has not yet been identified.

Authorities are now working to review other available footage and increase vigilance to prevent such acts of vandalism at historical sites.

Key Bishnoi gang member arrested in the US

Meanwhile, Jagdeep Singh, also known as Jagga, an important member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been arrested in the United States. Singh is believed to be linked to the Rohit Godara network, and Indian agencies are working to have him brought back to India to face trial.

Jagdeep Singh has several criminal cases registered against him in Punjab and Rajasthan, including extortion and assault. Courts in both states had already issued warrants declaring him a proclaimed offender.

Around three years ago, Singh reportedly left India for Dubai and later entered the United States illegally. He was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) near the Canada–US border.

His arrest comes shortly after another Bishnoi gang associate, Lakhvinder Kumar, was deported from the US to India on October 25 in a CBI-led operation. Kumar had multiple cases against him in Haryana and was taken into custody by Haryana Police on arrival at Delhi airport.

The CBI had earlier issued an Interpol Red Notice against him in October 2024.
