RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bihar, accusing the BJP of double standards over the recent mutton feast controversy during the holy month of Sawan.
In a post on X, Tejashwi sarcastically shared what he called the PM’s “schedule” in Bihar. He said Modi would first “honour those who hold mutton feasts during Sawan” on stage in Motihari, showing the BJP’s hypocrisy.
Tejashwi also said that PM Modi would blame past governments (from 50 years ago) for the current crime situation in Bihar. He added that the PM would speak so many jumlas (political slogans) that even Lord Indra, the god of rain, would be embarrassed.
The post adds to the ongoing political war of words over religious sentiments and political statements during Sawan.
Tejashwi further said that the PM won’t say whether Nitish Kumar will be the NDA’s Chief Ministerial face after the elections. He also said Modi will just use words like “Jungle Raj, Opposition, Lalu Prasad, RJD, and Muslims” in his speech.
Along with his post on social media, Tejashwi shared a cartoon of PM Modi holding a note that said: "Bihar teaches lessons to the mighty. Look! He’s now pretending to show love. He’s coming back to Bihar again." PM Modi is visiting East Champaran today to hold a rally and launch projects worth ₹7,000 crore. Bihar Assembly elections are expected later this year.
The issue of non-veg food during holy months like Sawan or Navratri has become a political flashpoint in Bihar.
- In 2022, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav hosted a mutton feast during Sawan, which was also attended by Rahul Gandhi. TheBJP had criticised it strongly.
- In 2023, theBJP shared a video of Tejashwi eating fish during Navratri, calling it an insult to Hindu beliefs.
- Recently, Tejashwi hit back at Union Minister Lalan Singh (JD(U)) for holding a mutton party in Sawan in his constituency, Lakhisarai.
Tejashwi sarcastically said, “Now, the BJP will call it a ‘good deed’ since Lalan Singh is their ally. When the PM visits tomorrow, I hope he talks about this too.”
