Swiggy Instamart users were in for a surprise after a technical glitch credited massive discount coupons, allowing them to place orders almost for free. A Reddit user shared screenshots of the unexpected jackpot.

The post, titled "Someone is losing their job at Swiggy," showed a banner on the app that said: "Enjoy up to ₹5,00,000 in free cash. Applied on your next order above ₹199."

The post says that users started unexpectedly receiving ₹4,000 to ₹5,00,000 in free cash on Swiggy Instamart.

Many quickly took advantage of the glitch, using the 'free cash' to place orders, some of which were successfully delivered. Screenshots showed an order worth ₹4,081 being reduced to just ₹81, while another order of ₹56,347 dropped to just ₹1 after applying the discount.

However, the excitement was short-lived. Swiggy soon began calling customers, informing them about the glitch and requesting them to return the items purchased during the error, according to the Reddit post.

The post quickly went viral, with users reacting in different ways. Some believed it was a clever marketing trick, while others wished they had known about the "offer" sooner.

One user commented, "This could be a Marketing Stunt."Another joked, "Ok Swiggy PR Team, we get it. Now stop posting everywhere." Someone else wrote, "I wish I had heard about this offer earlier."A surprised user shared, "It showed ₹4 lakh for me too. I thought it was some random loan scheme."

In a separate incident, a Swiggy Instamart user recently complained about free tomatoes being added to his cart without an option to remove them. Calling it "basket sneaking" and a "dark pattern," he argued that customers should have full control over their shopping choices, even for free items.
