A 29-year-old doctor was found dead in his car near Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu. Police said he died by suicide after giving himself an injection. Reports say he was under stress because of large debts from online gambling.
The doctor, Joshua Samraj, was from Vedachandur in Dindigul district. He had studied medicine in the Philippines and had worked in several hospitals across Tamil Nadu. He was in his second year of postgraduate medical studies.

Joshua had been missing for four days before his family reported it to the Vedachandur Police Station. Local people noticed a car parked for several days near Poombarai and told the police.When the police checked the car, they found Joshua’s body inside, along with equipment for giving an injection. They also found his phone, which showed bank records that indicated he was in serious financial trouble, possibly because of online gambling. The police are still investigating.

In another case, in March 2025, Dr. George P Abraham, a well-known kidney specialist and surgeon, was found dead at his farmhouse in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. He was 74 years old. Dr. Abraham worked at a private hospital in Kochi. On the day he died, he went to his farmhouse in Thuruthissery with his brother. After dropping off his brother, he returned alone. That night, he was found hanging at the farmhouse.
suicide note found at the scene said that he was having a hard time continuing his medical work with the same skill. Reports say he had back surgery six months ago and started having hand tremors after that.
