The Siddhivinayak Temple Trust in Prabhadevi has clocked its all-time highest annual revenue of ₹133 crore for the financial year 2024-25. This is a 15% rise from ₹114 crore in the last year (2023-24), as per executive officer Veena Patil.
The managing committee of the temple has submitted its yearly budget on March 31, anticipating that revenue will increase further to ₹154 crore in the financial year 2025-26.
Siddhivinayak's deputy executive officer Sandeep Rathod attributed the temple's smooth administration to this increase in income. "Owing to the administration's efficiency, our income, expected to be ₹114 crore, rose to a record ₹133 crore, surpassing the trust's own estimates by 15%," he said.
He stated that simplifying darshan for devotees has resulted in higher donations. "We have seen if devotees are facilitated with smooth darshan, if queues move swiftly in an orderly fashion, more people can take darshan, thus increasing donations. It ensures a pleasant visit experience," Rathod added.
He also noted that at Siddhivinayak, each devotee gets 10-15 seconds for darshan, which is longer than at many other large temples where darshan time is only 5-7 seconds. "As a result, people's hearts are inclined to donate more," he said.
The temple’s revenue comes from several sources, including:
‘Daan peti’ (donation boxes)
Puja rituals
Sale of prasad (laddoo and nariyal wadi)
Online donations
Gold and silver offerings
All the fund collected goes for welfare activities carried out by the trust.
Rathod explained that while the trust adjusts revenue estimates for inflation, donations have increased despite rising food and gold prices. "Even though prices of food items and gold prices have risen, we have seen more items being auctioned in our gold-silver," he said.
The temple also ensures that prasad is sold on a no-profit-no-loss basis, keeping it affordable for all devotees.
