In Phase 2 of the Jharkhand Assembly election 2024 which is scheduled for November 20, the wealthiest candidate has declared assets over ₹400 crore, while the candidate with the least assets has declared just ₹100.

The Jharkhand assembly elections which are taking place in 2 phases have witnessed the successful completion of the first phase on November 13 while the second phase is going to take place on November 20.

The counting of votes for the 81 seats of Jharkhand assembly polls will take place on November 23 coinciding with the Maharashtra assembly election 2024. The tenure of the Jharkhand Assembly will end on January 5, 2025. The second phase of the election will witness a number of crorepatis fighting for the seat to form the government.

Richest candidate in phase 2

According to the Alternative Dispute Redressal (ADR) data, Samajwadi Party's (SP) candidate from Pakur, Aquil Akhtar is the richest candidate of Phase 2 who has assets of over ₹400 crore.

After Aquil Akhtar, independent candidate Niranjan Rai from Dhanwar has declared assets worth over Rs.137 crore. The third candidate on the list is Aazad Samaj Party's  Dhanwar candidate Mihammad Danish, who has declared assets worth over ₹32 crore.

However, Niranjan Rai, who is running as an independent candidate from Dhanwar, has declared the highest income in his Income Tax Returns (ITR) among the candidates. He reported an income of ₹15 crore, with his source of income listed as business.

Elian Hansdak of the Peoples Party, from Maheshpur,  has declared zero assets. According to the ADR report, 24 percent or 127 of the 522 candidates contesting Phase 2 of Jharkhand Assembly elections are listed under crorepatis.

It also shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the most crorepati candidates in Phase 2, with 32 candidates. Following the BJP are Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and other parties. While 72% of BJP's candidates in Phase 2 are crorepatis, the percentage is higher for JMM (90%) and Congress (83%).
