Prime Minister Narendra Modi may soon meet the members of all the all-party delegations that travelled across the world to talk about Operation Sindoor. According to reports, the meeting with the Prime Minister could happen on June 9 or 10.
These delegations went on a global tour to explain India’s response to terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The first group to return is the one led by BJP leader Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda. His team is coming back today, June 3. They left Delhi on May 24 and visited Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.
Before meeting the Prime Minister, all seven delegations will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to give him a full report. The debriefing starts today. Panda’s delegation will meet Jaishankar at 2.30 pm today.
The second delegation to arrive today will be led by Janata Dal (United) leader Sanjay Jha. They are expected to reach Delhi by 9.30 pm. The delegation led by Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde will return to India on June 4.
Seven delegations, one mission
A total of seven all-party delegations were sent to different parts of the world. Their main goal was to talk to audiences, elected leaders, and policymakers about India’s view on Pakistan’s long support for terrorism and the new strategy after Operation Sindoor.
These delegations included 59 Members of Parliament from different political parties. They also included former diplomats. The teams were divided into seven groups, each with 8–9 members and one group leader.
The group leaders were senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Jay Panda, JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7 after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22 that killed 26 people. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
