Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking at a gathering of BJP workers, claimed that Balochistan, the largest region of Pakistan, could soon be recognized as a separate country. He added that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would ensure a strong response to Pakistan for the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
Sawant further explained that, like Pakistan, India had experienced the division of the country in 1947, leading to the creation of both India and Pakistan. He referred to the creation of Bangladesh in 1971 after Pakistan's split and stated that Balochistan might follow the same path in the future.
During his speech, Sawant also highlighted the difference between India and Pakistan, focusing on the issue of religious harmony. He pointed out that, unlike Pakistan, where minority communities have struggled, India has always upheld its secular nature.
He said, “Muslims stayed back in India after Partition, and we have seen their population increasing. We have no issues with them. We are a secular country. Hindus, Muslims, and Christians maintain communal harmony and stay together peacefully in the country.”
Sawant took the opportunity to criticize the Congress party, saying that, unlike them, Prime Minister Modi would not tolerate Pakistan’s actions. He praised Modi for his strong approach and stated that the Union Government had already ordered Pakistani nationals to leave India, with the promise of not allowing them to enter again until Pakistan halts terrorism.
This speech by Sawant comes at a time when tensions are high between India and Pakistan, especially after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
