Three days after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists, heavy firing was reported from several Pakistani Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) throughout the night. According to sources, this kind of firing has not been reported in recent times and is seen as an unusual development.

The Indian Army responded to the firing. No Indian soldiers were injured.
"The Pakistani Army fired small arms along the border. Our troops responded. Further details are being ascertained. There have been no casualties," said an official.

Earlier in February this year, the Pakistani Army had opened fire on an Indian post in Poonch district. India responded back at that time too. Luckily, no one was hurt, and there was no major damage.

However, this latest firing is seen as a serious matter because it comes just after the Pahalgam terror attack. Both India and Pakistan are currently on high alert. Pakistan has also declared a no-fly zone over the Arabian Sea, as there may be a missile test today.

Gunfights in Bandipora and Udhampur

In another serious incident, a gunfight started between terrorists and security forces in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Sources say that one terrorist was injured while trying to escape. Two police officers working under a senior official were also injured.

The gunfight began when security forces received information that terrorists were hiding in the forests of the Bazipora area. When they went to search the area, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce fight.

On Thursday, in a separate gunfight in Udhampur district, a soldier from the Special Forces was killed during an encounter with terrorists.

After the Pahalgam attack, a big search operation has started to catch the five to six terrorists responsible. Security forces have released pictures of three suspects – Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha. A cash reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for anyone who can give strong clues about the attackers.
