The houses of two terrorists believed to be involved in the Pahalgam terror attack were destroyed on Friday by security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir administration. One of the terrorists, Adil Hussain Thokkar, was a member of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba. His house in Bijbehara was blown up using IEDs (bombs). The house of another accused, Asif Sheikh, located in Tral, was demolished with a bulldozer.
Adil Thokar is suspected to have helped the Pakistani terrorists plan and carry out the deadly attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. In this attack, 26 people were killed, including one foreign tourist.
Thokar had crossed into Pakistan in 2018 through the Attari-Wagah border and received terror training there. He came back into Jammu and Kashmir sometime last year and continued his activities.
The Anantnag Police has now announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for anyone who gives useful information about Thokar and two Pakistani terrorists – Ali Bhai and Hashim Musa – who carried out the attack.
Police have also shared sketches of the three men to help the public identify them. According to the police, both Ali and Musa have been active in the Kashmir Valley for the past two years.
India holds special security meeting
After this attack, India has taken strong steps. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which takes major decisions about national security, held a special meeting. Officials said the attack had “cross-border linkages”, meaning it was linked to terrorists in Pakistan. The CCS decided to take serious action against Pakistan for supporting terrorism.
