India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a response to the deadly Pahalgam attack. According to top government sources, 80 terrorists were killed and more than 60 others were injured in the missile strikes.
24 missiles, 9 locations
The Indian armed forces carried out 24 missile strikes across nine different places, including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal. These areas were identified as terror hubs linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
Government sources said the strikes were carefully planned and precisely executed, causing heavy damage to terror camps while avoiding civilian or military installations.
“It was a statement of strategic resolve,” a source said. “Through 24 precisely coordinated missile strikes across nine terrorist-linked locations, India demonstrated that it would no longer tolerate cross-border terrorism, nor the complicity of state institutions that enable it.”
Pakistan claimed that 9 civilians died, 38 were injured, and 2 people are missing after the strikes. However, Indian officials stressed that collateral damage was kept to a minimum by using precision missiles and that no Pakistani military sites were hit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed the entire operation in real-time from New Delhi, sources confirmed. He was constantly briefed by the Chief of Defence Staff, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and senior intelligence officials. The Prime Minister also held several rounds of communication with the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force throughout the night.
Terror groups' capabilities damaged
Sources also noted that the strikes had seriously weakened the functioning of terror outfits in the region. Intelligence officials believe the operation has disrupted key networks and reduced their ability to carry out future attacks.
More details on Operation Sindoor and its impact are expected in the coming days as the situation continues to develop.
