A German Shepherd was reportedly beaten and then tied to a car, dragged for almost three kilometers by a man in Greater Noida. The incident took place earlier this week in Dankaur town.

The dog's owner, Sudhir Indoria, had securely tied the dog outside their home. Police said the dog barked at a child, which frightened the child and caused him to fall and start crying. This upset the child's father, who is accused of hitting the dog with sticks.

Sudhir Indoria said that after beating the dog, his neighbour tied the injured animal to a Scorpio car and dragged it for nearly three kilometers around the Sports City area.

The German Shepherd was badly hurt and was quickly taken to a local animal hospital. Officials said the dog is being treated and is under care.

Mr. Indoria also said that the man who attacked his dog threatened to kill him if he went to the police about the incident.

The Dankaur police station has registered a case against the accused. Noida Police's media cell confirmed that an investigation is underway and that "necessary action is being taken."
