In response to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the incident. As a mark of respect for the victims and their families, the AIMPLB has decided to pause its ongoing protests against the new Waqf law for three days, from April 23 to April 25. The attack claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, and left many injured.

The Board said this decision was taken to show solidarity with those affected by the tragedy. SQR Ilyas, the national convener of the Majlis-e-Amal for the protection of Waqf under the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, calling it extremely heartbreaking and unfortunate.

He said that as a mark of respect and sympathy for the victims and their families, the Board has decided to suspend all protest activities under the Waqf Protection Campaign for three days. This pause is meant to honour the lives lost and stand in solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.

To ensure this decision is followed, Ilyas issued a circular to all state and district conveners of the campaign, asking them to stop all protest-related activities immediately for the three days. He also made it clear that the campaign against the new Waqf law is only being paused, not cancelled, and will resume once the mourning period is over.

About the Pahalgam tragedy

At least 28 people were killed and more than 60 others injured after terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Baisaran Valley, a scenic spot in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The Pahalgam terror attack took place on Tuesday evening and has triggered nationwide outrage and condemnation.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a terror outfit believed to be a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the assault. The timing of the attack, just days ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, during the visit of US Vice President JD Vance, and shortly after 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana was extradited to India, has raised major concerns over possible international coordination and intelligence failures.
