Muskan Rastogi, the main accused in the Meerut murder case, has been confirmed pregnant while in jail. She is accused of killing her husband, Saurabh Rajput, along with her alleged lover, Sahil Shukla.
According to a report by India Today, the pregnancy was confirmed by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Ashok Kataria on Monday, April 7. The test was done after jail officials requested a medical check-up. A team from the district hospital visited the jail and confirmed the pregnancy.
The Meerut murder case
Muskan Rastogi, 27, and Sahil Shukla, 25, allegedly murdered and chopped the body pieces of Saurabh Rajput, 29, her husband. His body parts were found stuffed in a cement-sealed drum in their rented home.
Muskan and Saurabh had a love marriage in 2016 and were living together with their five-year-old daughter. Saurabh had been working in London, and during that time, Muskan reportedly started an affair with Sahil.
Saurabh returned to Meerut recently, after which the murder happened on March 4. After killing him, the couple hid his body, and Muskan allegedly lied to neighbours, saying her husband had gone to a hill station.
She even traveled to Manali with Sahil and posted photos from Saurabh’s phone to mislead his family and friends.
When Saurabh’s family couldn’t contact him for days, they filed a missing person report. The police soon found the truth, and both Muskan and Sahil were arrested. During interrogation, they confessed to the murder.
Reports also show that Muskan had been planning the murder since November 2023. She and Sahil are currently in judicial custody at Chaudhary Charan Singh Jail in Meerut.
Muskan has now asked the court to provide her with a government lawyer, saying her family is no longer supporting her.
