The service promises to wash away past sins and bring divine blessings, including those from ancestors watching from heaven.
However, the Maha KumbhMela tends to run until February 26 but this undated ad claims that this is your last chance to join an opportunity that won't come again in a lifetime. It urges people to take this rare chance for spiritual cleansing and blessings before it’s gone for good.
Senior Supreme Court advocate and outspoken social media personality Sanjay Hegde recently drew attention to the photocopy Snan service on social media. In a playful comment, he asked what might happen if someone sent a picture of a Rs. 500 note.
The business has been criticized by sceptics for taking advantage of people's beliefs. One commenter asked, "Where does it say you can wash away your sins like that? It's just a business, making money off people's foolishness."
Another said, "When the government is focused on earning money at the Maha Kumbh, ordinary people will do anything in the name of God. Even Hindugods are treated like a common product in India. It's all about making money. TTD works the same way." Some remote-dip services even promise to deliver "holy" mud to customers' homes and send them a video as proof of the service.
