The Kerala government has approved the Kerala Health System Improvement Programme after securing a ₹2,424.28 crore loan from the World Bank. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday. The project will be carried out under the Programme for Results (P for R) model.
Goals of the health improvement project
The main goal of this programme is to make the people of Kerala healthier and improve their lives. It aims to help people live longer and enjoy a better quality of life. The focus will be on stopping diseases, accidents, and early deaths while also making the healthcare system stronger in the state.
The programme will also help different government departments work together to solve new health problems, including those caused by climate change. Some key areas of focus include preventing diseases that aren't spread from person to person, improving emergency and trauma care, and creating a 24/7 emergency response system with ambulances and trauma services.
The Kerala government is focusing on improving healthcare, especially for the elderly. They plan to involve local government bodies in making the healthcare system better. The government will also hire more healthcare workers, improve digital health services, and spend more on public health. The main goal is to make healthcare easier to access for people living in poverty.
By securing a ₹2,424.28 crore loan from the World Bank, Kerala plans to enhance health services for people of all ages. The focus will be on preventing diseases, accidents, and early deaths while improving healthcare facilities. Special care will be given to the elderly and emergency services. The project also aims to improve coordination between government departments to address health problems, including those caused by climate change, ensuring a healthier and safer future for everyone.
