In a rare twist, a man from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, managed to trick a cyber fraudster. Amid the rising number of scam calls across the country, Bhupendra Singh, a resident of Kanpur received a call from a scammer posing as a CBI official. The fraudster falsely claimed to have obscene videos of Singh and demanded a Rs 16,000 bribe to "close the case." However, instead of falling for the trap, Singh turned the tables on the scammer, making this case both amusing and insightful.

Realizing it was a scam, Singh decided to turn the tables on the fraudster. Pretending to be frightened, he begged the caller not to tell his mother about the video. According to an IndiaToday report, Singh pleaded with the scammer saying, "Uncle, please don’t tell my mother, or I’ll be in big trouble."

When the scammer demanded Rs 16,000 to settle the so-called case, Singh came up with a clever plan. He made up a story that he had given his gold chain as security and needed Rs 3,000 to get it back.Falling for the trick, the fraudster, instead of extorting money, ended up transferring Rs 3,000 to Singh, turning the scam on its head.

Bhupendra didn’t stop there. When the scammer called again, he made up another story, claiming that the jeweller refused to release the chain because he was a minor. He then asked the fraudster to pretend to be his father and speak to the jeweller. However, the "jeweller" was Bhupendra's friend, who played along and told the scammer that an additional Rs 4,480 was needed to release the chain.

But the scammer’s troubles didn’t end. When he contacted Bhupendra again, the Kanpur man spun another tale about taking a gold loan. Once again, his friend pretended to be the loan officer and convinced the scammer that he could get a Rs 1.10 lakh loan by paying a Rs 3,000 processing fee. Falling for the trick, the fraudster transferred another Rs 3,000.

In total, the scammer unknowingly sent Rs 10,000 to Bhupendra. Realizing he had been fooled, the fraudster pleaded for his money back. "You’ve wronged me. Please return my money," he begged, according to India Today. Bhupendra later reported the incident to the police and stated that he would donate the money.
