A Jhansi-based lawyer was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court after being arrested on serious charges made by his minor daughter and niece. They accused him of rape, sexual assault, and threatening them. The judge, Justice Krishan Pahal, pointed out many differences in their statements, no forensic proof, and a delay in filing the police complaint. He said that if the allegations are true, they are very serious and must be punished strictly. However, calling the lawyer a “paedophile” at this stage is not justified, as there is no earlier record or complaint against him.

The complaint said the lawyer took advantage of the vulnerable position of the two girls, one being his daughter and the other an orphaned niece under his care. It also claimed he forced them to stay silent and used them to file false complaints against others to get money settlements worth lakhs. The lawyer was charged under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code related to rape, sexual assault, and threats, based on a joint complaint from the victims.

However, the lawyer’s defence said that both girls had left his house willingly, married people of their choice, and had even helped the prosecution in other criminal cases against those husbands. They claimed the complaints were made only after the lawyer disagreed with their marriages, suggesting the accusations were made in revenge.
The court noted that since the victims were minors when the incidents supposedly happened, the charges were serious. But their changing stories and statements that they were sometimes pressured or angry made the court question how true the allegations were.

Also, there was a one-year delay in reporting the case, and no video or medical proof was found, even though such evidence was claimed. This weakened the prosecution’s case. The lawyer was accused of serious crimes like rape, sexual assault, and threats by two girls. But the lawyer said the girls left his home on their own, married who they wanted, and helped in cases against their husbands. He said they made the complaints only after he disagreed with their marriages, so the accusations might be revenge.

The court said the charges were serious because the girls were minors. But their stories changed, and they said they were sometimes pressured or angry, so the court had doubts. The case was reported after one year, and no proof like videos or medical reports was found. This made the case weaker. The court also said the lawyer may have been trying to protect family rules but may have gone too far. Because of these doubts and lack of proof, the court allowed the lawyer to go free on bail.
