The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is preparing to deport nearly 16,000 foreign nationals detained across India for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking, officials confirmed. This move is being described as one of the largest crackdowns on narcotics in recent times.

The action comes after a detailed report submitted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which investigated the involvement of these individuals in various drug-related offences. The accused face charges ranging from drug smuggling to illegal transportation of narcotics. Many of them are currently lodged in detention facilities across multiple states.

According to sources, the list of detained foreign nationals has already been shared with the MHA and other concerned agencies, and the deportation process will be carried out under provisions of the new immigration law. Officials added that strict measures are being taken to ensure the deportations are carried out efficiently and in accordance with legal procedures.

This large-scale action reflects India’s intensified efforts to combat international drug trafficking and strengthen border security. Authorities have highlighted that foreign nationals involved in narcotics operations pose serious risks to public safety and national security. The MHA’s move to deport them is expected to act as a strong deterrent against future drug-related offences.

The NCB continues to monitor and investigate cross-border narcotics activities as part of its ongoing anti-drug campaign.
