The Indian Army successfully stopped an attempt by Pakistan to attack parts of Punjab, including the holy Golden Temple in Amritsar. The army acted quickly and used special air defence systems to block the missiles and drones before they could do any harm.
According to Major General Kartik C Seshadri, who is in charge of the 15 Infantry Division, Pakistan tried to attack military places and important spots in Amritsar. He explained that intelligence reports had warned them about possible strikes on civilian areas and religious sites, especially the Golden Temple.
“Knowing that the Pakistan army does not have any legitimate targets, we anticipated that they would target Indian military installations, civilian targets, including religious places," Major General Seshadri said.
To stop the attack, the Army used modern weapons like the AKASH missile system and L-70 Air Defence Guns. These powerful systems were placed around the Golden Temple and other key areas to protect them from anything coming from the sky.
“Of these, the Golden Temple appeared to be the most prominent. We mobilised additional modern air defence assets to give a holistic air defence umbrella cover to Golden Temple," the Major General added.
Pakistan reportedly used drones and long-range missiles to carry out the attack. But due to quick thinking and smart planning, the Indian Army stopped these attacks in time.
Major General Seshadri said Pakistan engaged in an air assault with aerial weapons, including drones and long-range missiles, targeting the Golden Temple, which was “thwarted”.
The Indian Army’s fast response helped save lives and protect one of the most important religious places in the country. Their actions showed how well-prepared India is to handle any kind of threat from the sky.
