Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have launched multiple counter-terrorism operations to eliminate threats in the region. The first operation began in the Rajouri district of Jammu division on Tuesday night, when a fierce gunfight broke out between terrorists and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The encounter took place in the Beeranthub area, under the Kandi Police Station limits. Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of three to four armed terrorists, a joint team of security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation to locate them.

As the troops surrounded the area, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a heavy exchange of gunfire. The encounter is still underway, and forces are maintaining a tight security perimeter to prevent the suspects from escaping.

Meanwhile, another anti-terror operation is ongoing in the Dharni Top area of Basantgarh in Udhampur district. Based on credible inputs, security agencies spotted three suspected terrorists moving through the dense forest region.

In response, a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, and paramilitary forces quickly moved in and sealed the entire area. Troops are conducting intensive search operations across the rugged and forested terrain to locate the suspects.

Both operations are currently in progress, with security forces maintaining strict vigilance to ensure the safety of nearby villages and personnel involved in the missions. Authorities said the efforts are part of ongoing measures to neutralise terror threats and safeguard peace in the region.
