The government has banned several popular streaming platforms such as Ullu, ALTT, Desiflix, and Big Shots for showing sexually explicit and soft-porn content. Officials said these platforms were spreading "soft porn" in the name of erotic web series, which goes against India's IT Rules and laws related to obscenity.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) made this decision after receiving several complaints and reports. The apps were found guilty of not moderating their content properly, allowing vulgar videos to be easily accessed, even by minors.

The ban is part of the government’s effort to stop the easy availability of pornographic content online and to ensure digital content stays within legal and moral boundaries. Earlier in March, the government had also blocked 19 websites, 10 apps, and 57 social media accounts linked to 18 OTT platforms for the same reason. These platforms included Dreams Films, Neon X VIP, MoodX, Voovi, Mojflix, Hunters, Yessma, Rabbit, Prime Play, and others.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) said these platforms were publishing obscene and vulgar material, and some even shared pornographic content. The blocked apps were available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has stressed that OTT platforms must not misuse "creative freedom" to spread vulgarity and abuse. He added that the government will continue taking strict action against those who violate content rules.
