Five terrorists were killed in a clash with security forces in the Kadder area of Kulgam, South Kashmir, on Thursday. The operation started when security forces got information that terrorists were hiding in the area. A joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police began a search. During the operation, they saw some unusual movements that led to the encounter.

According to a statement by the Indian Army's Chinar Corps shared on X (formerly Twitter), "Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and J-K police at Kader, Kulgam. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops, and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate and heavy volumes of fire. Own troops effectively retaliated. Operation is in progress."

This incident is one of many recent clashes in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this month, security forces killed a terrorist in Srinagar who was involved in killing civilians in Ganderbal and carrying out other attacks.

Previous Incidents

Last month, security forces killed three terrorists in two separate encounters in Anantnag and Khanyar districts. On October 20, a tragic incident happened in Ganderbal, where terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site, killing seven people, including a doctor and two workers from Biha.

National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah expressed worry about the increasing attacks. He suggested that these could be an attempt to disrupt the new government. He also asked for an independent investigation into the issue. Bottom of Form: Security forces remain on high alert, continuing their operations across the region to ensure safety.
