Security forces in the Akhnoor area of Jammu and Kashmir completed an intense two-day mission by killing two terrorists. This mission began on Monday morning after some terrorists, believed to have crossed into India from the other side of the Line of Control (LoC), attacked an army convoy near the Assan temple in Jogwan village.

They specifically fired at an army ambulance. In response, the security forces launched a large operation, which included special forces, NSG commandos, and even helicopters to monitor the area from the sky.

On Monday the attack started at around 6:30 am when terrorists fired at an army convoy near the Line of Control (LoC), aiming at an ambulance. The army quickly fought back, forcing the terrorists to run away into a nearby forest to hide. By the evening, one of the terrorists was killed. Throughout the night, the army continued searching for the other two terrorists, who were hiding near a temple in the area.

On Tuesday morning, new gunfire started as the security forces moved in to finish the mission. Explosions went off, followed by heavy shooting as the forces got closer to where the terrorists were hiding. Sadly, a brave four-year-old Army dog named Phantom was shot and lost his life while helping in the operation.

Increased monitoring and help from special forces

They planned the operation very carefully, with four armored vehicles called BMP-II helping to secure the area. Helicopters also flew over the nearby jungle to spot any signs of the terrorists. After a heavy exchange of gunfire, the security forces confirmed that all three terrorists from the attack had been killed.

This encounter happened after a recent increase in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Last week, terrorists attacked the Baramulla district, killing two soldiers and two civilians. In another tragic event in Ganderbal, terrorists killed a local doctor and six workers from outside the region at a tunnel construction site. In response to these attacks, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha promised that “every drop of innocent blood” would be avenged, showing the government’s strong commitment to fighting terrorism in the area.
