Fake voter ID cards in the name of popular actresses Rakul Preet Singh, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Tamannaah Bhatia have surfaced on social media, showing them as registered voters in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills area. The ID cards, which show their names, photos, and the same address, “8-2-120/110/4”, have gone viral online. However, officials have confirmed that these voter ID cards are completely fake.
The issue came to light after a complaint was filed by Syed Yahiya Kamal, the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer for the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency and Assistant Municipal Commissioner of Yousufguda Circle under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Following the complaint, the police registered a case and the Election Commission launched an official investigation.
According to the complaint, some people were spreading false claims on social media, saying that famous film actresses were listed on the voters' list with fake details. These fake details included edited photographs, wrong voter ID numbers (EPIC numbers), and incorrect addresses. The Election Commission stated that this kind of activity is misleading and could affect the election process.
Officials have asked the public not to believe or share such false information. They also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone spreading fake content related to voter information or the electoral roll.
This is not the first time fake voter ID cards have become an issue in the Jubilee Hills area. Earlier this month, a case was filed against Telangana Congress leader Naveen Yadav. He was accused of distributing fake voter ID cards to local residents.
This complaint was made based on a newspaper report that showed photographs of Yadav handing out the IDs. Authorities are taking these matters seriously, especially with elections around the corner, and are working to ensure that no fake or illegal activities interfere with the democratic process.
