Covid-19 cases are increasing again across India. The total number of active cases in the country has now crossed 6,815. Health experts are keeping a close watch on this rise.
In Gujarat, 203 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, till Wednesday. With this, the total number of active cases in the state has reached 1,281. Out of these, 23 patients are getting treatment in hospitals. The other 1,258 patients are being treated through OPD (outpatient-based care).
During the same time, 149 patients recovered and were sent home. This is a positive sign, even though the virus is still spreading.
Health department’s update
The Gujarat Health Department said there has been a small drop in daily new Covid-19 cases in the past three days. Officials said this is “an encouraging sign” while the rest of India sees an increase.
The daily number of cases in Gujarat has been going up and down in the last 10 days. On June 10, there were 223 new cases. On June 9, there were 235. A few days before that, there were 185 cases on June 8, 183 on June 7, and 170 on June 6. Earlier this month, on June 1, only 55 cases were reported. This shows that the virus is still active and spreading in the community.
Preparations for Rath Yatra
As the annual Rath Yatra festival is coming soon, health authorities have advised people to be careful. They said people who are old or have health problems should avoid crowds and “watch the event from home”.
State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said, “Take sensible precautions as a preventive measure.”
The Gujarat government is preparing for the rising number of cases. They are watching the trends closely and making sure hospitals are ready. They are also working with local health departments across districts.
Officials said outpatient-based care will help manage most cases. “Only a small fraction require hospitalisation,” they said.
The Health Department is also increasing testing and tracking recoveries in both cities and villages.
