A shocking incident has been reported from a private rehabilitation centre around 30 km from Bengaluru. A person staying at the centre was badly beaten after he reportedly said no to washing the warden’s clothes and cleaning the toilet. The incident happened inside the centre, which is under the Nelamangala Rural Police area.

A CCTV video of the incident was shared widely, showing a patient being cornered in a room and beaten with a stick by a man while others stood around and did nothing. As the video goes on, the man is seen being dragged again and again. Later, another man joins in and also beats him with a stick.

CK Baba, Superintendent of Police for Rural Bengaluru, confirmed the incident. He said, “This incident occurred at a private rehabilitation centre. The visuals show a person who had come to stay at the facility being physically attacked. The footage is from a rehab centre that falls under the jurisdiction of the Nelamangala Rural Police Limits. The assault took place within the premises and has recently come to public attention, though it's old.”

Warden and owner booked; dagger video also found

After the video was shared, the Bengaluru Rural police raided the rehabilitation centre and filed cases against both the warden and the owner for the assault. They registered a suo motu case at the Nelamangala Police Station, meaning the police took action on their own without waiting for a complaint. Legal proceedings have started, and the police have also added charges under the Arms Act and other relevant laws.

The case grew bigger after another video showed people at the centre using a dagger to cut a birthday cake. “Everyone seen in the footage, including those involved in the birthday celebration where a dagger was used to cut the cake, has been arrested,” CK Baba confirmed.
