An Air India flight from Hong Kong to Delhi had to return mid-way after the pilot noticed a possible technical problem. The flight, AI315, was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and took off on Monday morning. As a safety step, the pilot turned the plane back to Hong Kong, where it landed safely. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Air India has not yet shared what caused the issue or when the flight will be rescheduled. This incident happened just days after a tragic crash involving the same aircraft model. Another Air India Dreamliner flying from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after take-off, killing 270 people,  241 on board and 29 on the ground, including five MBBS students.

The plane crashed into a medical college in Meghaninagar and burst into flames minutes after take-off. Only one person survived- a British national of Indian origin, who is now being treated for injuries. The crash caused a massive fire and left the aircraft in pieces.

Other flight incidents

A flight from Saudi Arabia with about 250 passengers, including Hajj pilgrims, had a technical problem while landing in Lucknow. The Saudi Arabia Airlines flight developed a snag, and smoke was seen coming out of its left wheel during landing at Lucknow airport.

The fault in the wheel was likely caused by a leak in the hydraulic system. The flight, an Airbus A330-343, had left Jeddah at 10:45 pm and landed at Lucknow around 6:50 am, as per Flightradar24 data. All passengers were safely evacuated, and there were no injuries reported.

In another serious incident, a Lufthansa flight going to Hyderabad had to return to Frankfurt due to a bomb threat. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner had taken off from Frankfurt at 2:14 pm local time on Sunday and was scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday.

The bomb threat was received about two hours after the flight took off, according to sources. However, Lufthansa later told the news agency ANI, “It was forced to turn around since it did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad.”
