Tension arose in Ahmedabad’s Khokhra area after the shocking death of a Class 10 student, who was allegedly stabbed by his junior following an altercation outside school. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Seventh-Day Adventist Higher Secondary School, has sparked massive protests in the city.
The victim, identified as 15-year-old Nayan Santani, was attacked soon after the school bell rang. According to police, a group of juniors from Class 8 surrounded him outside the school premises, leading to a heated argument. In the scuffle, one of the boys took out a knife and stabbed Nayan before fleeing.
CCTV footage shows Nayan walking back into the school building, clutching his stomach, visibly injured. He was rushed to a private hospital in Maninagar but succumbed to his injuries.
The accused, a minor, was later detained. Investigators revealed chilling Instagram chat exchanges between the boy and his friend, in which he admitted to the crime. When asked if he had stabbed someone, the accused responded “Haan to” (Yes). In another message, he said, “To bolde ki ***** ne mara” (Tell that I stabbed him).
He allegedly claimed that Nayan had threatened him during the argument, saying, “Who are you? What will you do?”, which provoked the attack. His friend, however, reprimanded him, saying he could have hit Nayan but should not have killed him. To this, the accused replied casually, “Chord na. Ab jo hogaya vo hogaya” (Let it be. What has happened has happened).
Police said the accused ran towards the back of the school building after the stabbing but was spotted by a security guard, who alerted authorities. An FIR has been registered, and the minor is being dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The tragic incident has sparked anger among parents and residents, with many questioning the safety of students in and around school premises.
