Two men in Kerala's Kasargod district have been arrested for assaulting a 62-year-old man, because of the 50-year-old childhood grudge, the police said. The arrested individuals are identified as Balakrishnan and Mathew Valiyaplakkal. They are accused of attacking VJ Babu, who was Balakrishnan's classmate. The assault took place on June 2, reportedly after an informal get-together.

According to police records, Balakrishnan attacked Babu seeking revenge for an incident that happened when they were both in Class 4. Although Babu and Balakrishnan had a verbal argument about this old incident a few days prior and resolved the matter. But, Balakrishnan, along with Mathew, confronted Babu again on June 2, leading to the assault and their subsequent arrest.

Both Balakrishnan and Mathew first confronted Babu, asking why he had attacked Balakrishnan back when they were in fourth grade. This argument quickly turned violent, with both Balakrishnan and Mathew hitting Babu.
Police stated that Balakrishnan grabbed Babu by his shirt collar, while Mathew used a stone to hit Babu on his face and back. Babu is now in the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital in Pariyaram, getting treatment for his injuries.

A police case has been filed against the duo. They are facing charges of wrongfully restraining Babu, intentionally causing him harm with a dangerous object, and acting together with a shared goal to commit the assault.
