A helicopter crash near Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, on Thursday morning killed six people. Seven people were on the helicopter, and six are confirmed dead, while one is injured.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared the sad news on social media and expressed his condolences. He wrote, "May God grant peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss." He also said that he had instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the cause of the accident. "I am constantly in touch with the officials in this regard, and every situation is being monitored," he added.
The helicopter was flying from Dehradun to the Harsil helipad. From there, passengers were planning to travel around 30 kilometres by road to Gangnani.
Rescue teams, including the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and district administration, have arrived at the scene to assist with relief and rescue operations. The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi is also on the way to oversee the situation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
