Many flights to and from Delhi Airport have been cancelled due to rising tensions in the Middle East and the closure of airspace. A total of 48 flights have been affected, 28 incoming and 20 outgoing. Among the cancelled flights are 17 from Air India, 8 from IndiGo, and 3 from other airlines. Of the 20 cancelled departures, 10 are Air India, 7 are IndiGo, and 3 belong to other carriers.
On Tuesday morning, IndiGo said that as airports in the Middle East begin to reopen, it is slowly and carefully resuming flights on those routes. The airline also stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to choose the safest flight paths. Passengers are advised to stay updated through the airline’s app or website.
SpiceJet and Akasa Air have warned that some of their flights may be affected due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the temporary closure of airspace in the region. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), SpiceJet said certain flights could be impacted, while Akasa Air also stated that its operations to and from the Middle East might face disruptions.
Both airlines apologized for the inconvenience and assured passengers that their teams are monitoring the situation closely to ensure all flights operate within safe and approved airspace. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status regularly. Airlines were placed on high alert late Monday after countries like Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Iraq, and Kuwait temporarily closed their airspace following Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. military base in Doha.
