Authorities have made a major recovery of explosives and weapons from Faridabad in Haryana, close to the national capital. A team of Jammu and Kashmir Police found 300 kg of RDX, an AK-47 rifle, and a large amount of ammunition during the operation.

The seizure comes only days after police arrested a Kashmiri doctor, Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested for allegedly putting up posters in support of the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.

Sources said that the recovery in Faridabad was made after Dr. Rather gave information during questioning. Police believe that the explosives and weapons were being kept with another doctor, identified as Mujahil Shakeel, who is now under investigation.

Before this, police had already seized an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Dr. Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag.

Officials said the latest arms were found during a joint operation carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana Police.

Dr. Rather has been booked under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. According to police sources, this case suggests that terror networks may now be trying to involve highly educated individuals, which is a worrying trend.

Police also said they are still investigating the purpose of storing such a large amount of explosives near the national capital. A detailed investigation is underway to uncover more links and motives.
