The government has shared data showing that more than ₹67 crore was spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips to five countries in 2025, including the US and France. From 2021 to 2024, the total cost of his international visits was nearly ₹295 crore. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh gave this information in a written reply to a question asked by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien in the Rajya Sabha.

Some of the countries PM Modi visited in 2025, such as Mauritius, Cyprus, Canada, Croatia, Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, did not have clear cost details listed. In those cases, the report mentioned, “Bills under settlement. Total expenditure not yet available.”

Among the five trips for which data was available, the visit to France was the most expensive, costing over ₹25 crore, followed by the US, which cost over ₹22 crore. His other trips in 2025 included visits to:Thailand – ₹4.92 crore, Sri Lanka – ₹4.46 crore and Saudi Arabia – ₹15.54 crore.

In February 2025, PM Modi visited France and the US. In France, he met President Emmanuel Macron and attended an AI Summit. In the US, he met with President Donald Trump and held several official meetings. Looking at past years: In 2024, trips to 16 countries including Russia, Ukraine, the US, and Brazil cost around ₹109 crore, in 2023, the cost was nearly ₹93 crore, in 2022, about ₹55.82 crore was spent and in 2021, around ₹36 crore was spent.

Some examples from earlier years:In 2021, the visit to the US cost over ₹19 crore, Italy over ₹6.9 crore, and the UK over ₹8.5 crore. In 2022, trips included Germany (₹9.44 crore), Denmark (₹5.47 crore), and Japan (₹8.68 crore).
The government also shared information about public events during these visits, such as how many people attended and how much was spent on advertising and broadcasting. For example, during PM Modi’s visit to Egypt in 2023, ₹11.90 lakh was spent on promotions and media coverage.
