A shocking video that has gone viral on social media shows a mob in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly forcing a schoolboy to urinate on a Pakistani flag placed on the road. The incident has triggered public outrage and prompted police to launch an investigation. So far, three individuals have been booked in the case.

As per the police complaint, the 15-year-old boy was returning from Government Inter College with his friends on Monday afternoon when he noticed a Pakistani flag lying on the road. Soon after, a mob approached him, asked for his name, hurled abuse at him, and then forced him to urinate on the flag.

An FIR (First Information Report) was filed late Monday night at the Banna Devi police station. Three people, including one whose name is not yet known, were booked under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (India’s new criminal law).

A senior police officer confirmed that the case is being looked into seriously. “Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” the officer said.

Samajwadi party condemns incident

The Aligarh unit of the Samajwadi Party strongly condemned the act. District general secretary Manoj Yadav said the incident seemed like an attempt to create communal tension, especially after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, most of whom were tourists.

“It is a deeply disturbing video, but the incident is not an isolated one. We have received reports of similar incidents of harassment from other parts of the city. The administration must act decisively to prevent any attempts to disrupt peace,” Yadav said.

Another case of violence reported

In a separate incident, a fruit juice vendor named Omar Husain had his shop vandalised in the Suwarn Jayanti Nagar area under the Kuwarsi police station. Police said they have filed another FIR against unknown persons for this act.

“We have taken cognisance of both incidents, and investigations are underway,” said Circle Officer Abhay Pande. He also asked the public not to spread rumours or do anything that could increase tension.
