YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his popular social media programs, asked the Supreme Court on Monday for permission to continue airing his shows online, saying that his content is his only source of income. His show, 'India's Got Latent', caused a lot of controversy with its crude and controversial remarks, which led to several FIRs being filed against him.
Authorities from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and Mumbai police are now investigating the comments he made during a show featuring comedian Samay Raina. On Monday, both Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared separately before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to give their statements as part of the obscenity investigation. In his statement, Allahbadia admitted that he made a mistake by using certain controversial words and expressed regret for his comments.
Allahbadia told officials that Samay Raina is a close friend, and he attended the show solely because of their friendship. He further said that he did not receive any payment or fee for being at the event. According to the official, Allahbadia wanted to make it clear that his participation was entirely voluntary and based on personal ties, not for any financial gain.
