BJP MP and actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has claimed that she received an electricity bill of ₹1 lakh for her house in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, even though no one is living there. While speaking at a public event in Mandi, her Lok Sabha constituency, Kangana criticised the Congress government, saying it has failed to manage the state properly. She said, "The situation in Himachal under Congress is really bad. I got a ₹1 lakh electricity bill for a house I don’t even live in. Just think about the condition here."

Kangana Ranaut’s comments soon got a reaction from the Himachal Pradesh Congress. They called her remarks “unfair” and “irresponsible”, and denied any wrongdoing. The Congress party said that instead of making public accusations, Kangana should raise such issues through proper government channels.

The Congress party hit back at Kangana Ranaut, saying her electricity bill remarks were made for “cheap publicity” and were irresponsible, especially since she holds an important public position. "She should have written to the concerned officials instead of making public statements. There’s no question of any deliberate action against her,” the party said.

Earlier, while addressing her supporters, Kangana criticised the Congress-led state government, calling Himachal’s situation “painful to watch.” She claimed the government is focusing on unimportant matters and ignoring real issues.

“There’s a wave of PM Modi and saffron across the country. But Himachal’s condition under Congress is sad. Their agencies are busy investigating samosas. It’s embarrassing. We work so hard on the ground, and we must take our state forward. I’d say they are like ‘bhediya’ (wolves)… we need to free Himachal from their claws,” she said.
In response, Congress leader Mumtaz Patel slammed Kangana’s “bhediya” remark, saying she speaks without thinking and seems to have “shoot-out-of-mouth syndrome.”
