A government school in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district has recorded a rare result, a zero percent pass rate in the Class 10 board exams. The school, located in Bhadrakot village of the Okhalkanda block, had only one student in Class 10 this year.

Sadly, the student failed in all subjects in the state board exams held recently.

With this outcome, the Government Higher Secondary School in Bhadrakot has become the only government school in the state to record a 0% result in the Class 10 exams declared on April 19.

The school had seven teachers teaching subjects like Hindi, English, science, mathematics, social science, and arts. However, officials confirmed that the arts teacher was transferred recently.

In the previous academic year, the total student count from Class 6 to Class 10 was just seven, two each in Classes 6 and 7, and one each in Classes 8, 9, and 10.

When contacted about the unusual case, Nainital’s Chief Education Officer, Govind Jaiswal, said:

“I will investigate the matter, and action will be taken accordingly.”

This case has raised concerns over resource allocation and teaching standards in remote government schools, especially those with very low student strength. The education department is now looking into the reasons behind the poor result.
