A late-night search for transport turned into a horrific experience for a woman in Haryana’s Faridabad, where she was allegedly raped inside a moving van by two men. After the assault, the accused reportedly pushed her out of the vehicle and fled, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint, and both accused have been arrested. Officials confirmed that the two men are residents of Faridabad.
As per the complaint, the woman lives separately with her husband and mother. On the night of December 29, at around 8.30 pm, she left her home after an argument with her mother. She decided to visit a female friend to calm herself down. Before leaving, she informed her sister about the situation and assured her that she would return home within three hours.
Later that night, at around 12.30 am, the woman started heading back home. She reached Metro Chowk in Faridabad and began looking for a vehicle to return. Her sister told the police that while the woman was requesting auto-rickshaw drivers for a ride, an Eco van stopped nearby. The men inside the van offered to drop her home. Trusting them, the woman got into the vehicle.
However, instead of taking her home, the accused allegedly drove towards the Faridabad–Gurugram road. The van was taken into a secluded forest area. Police said that after the vehicle crossed the Hanuman temple on the Faridabad–Gurugram road, the assault took place. One of the accused continued driving the van while the other allegedly raped the woman inside the moving vehicle. The van reportedly kept moving for nearly two hours during the assault. Despite trying to resist, the woman could not escape.
At around 3 am on December 30, the accused allegedly pushed the woman out of the moving van and fled the scene. She suffered serious injuries, including a head injury that required 12 stitches.
After the incident, the woman managed to call her sister and inform her about what had happened. Her sister rushed to the location and took her for medical treatment. The woman was first taken to Faridabad Civil Hospital. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, doctors advised that she be referred to AIIMS Delhi. Police later said that she is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Faridabad.
The woman’s family approached the police around 3 pm on December 30 and filed a formal complaint. Police officials said that action was taken immediately, special teams were formed, and both accused were arrested. Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
