The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore who was murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has agreed to a film being made about the tragic incident. The case shocked many across the country after police arrested Raja’s wife, Sonam, and her suspected lover.
The film, which will be directed by SP Nimbawat, is tentatively titled "Honeymoon in Shillong." The movie aims to show the truth behind the murder and raise awareness about betrayal in relationships.
Raja’s elder brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, told reporters, "We gave our consent for the upcoming film on the murder case. We believe that if we do not bring the story of my brother's murder to the big screen, people will not be able to know who was right and who was wrong."
Another brother, Vipin, said the family also wants to show the real image of Meghalaya through the film. Director SP Nimbawat said Raja faced a big betrayal after marriage. "Through our film, we want to give a message to the public that such incidents of betrayal should be stopped," he said.
Mr. Nimbawat shared that the script is ready, and though actor names are not revealed, 80% of the film will be shot in Indore and 20% in Meghalaya.
Raja Raghuvanshi had travelled to Meghalaya with his wife, Sonam, in May. A few days after their arrival, he went missing. On June 2, his mutilated body was discovered in a deep gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra (Cherrapunji) area.
Police later arrested eight people in connection with the murder, including his wife, Sonam, and her suspected lover, Raj Kushwaha.
