In Jharkhand's Khunti district, a 25-year-old man allegedly strangled his live-in partner, chopped her body into 40 to 50 pieces, and dumped the remains in a forest. The accused, Naresh Bhengra, was arrested after police uncovered the horrifying details on November 24.

The crime was revealed when a stray dog was seen roaming with human parts close to the Jordag village. The police began an investigation that eventually helped them retrieve multiple body parts scattered in the forest. The victim was a 24-year-old woman, who had been in a live-in relationship with Bhengra. She was a resident of the Khunti district but had been living in Tamil Nadu for a few years.

Police revealed that Bhengra had recently gone to Jharkhand and married another woman in secret. Later, he again returned to his partner in Tamil Nadu without disclosing his marital status to his wife. As per Khunti Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar, Bhengra had brought his ladylove back to Jharkhand by misleading her into the relationship and the relationship became violent.

"The brutal incident occurred on November 8 when they reached Khunti. The accused, who had married another woman, did not wish to take her home. Instead, he took her to a forest near his house at Jordag village in Jariagarh police station and chopped the body into pieces. The man has been arrested," Kumar said.

Bhengra, who was in the profession of butchery as he used to work in a chicken shop in Tamil Nadu, revealed that the killer had known how to dismember the body, Inspector Ashok Singh said.

“He admitted chopping the body parts of the woman into 40 to 50 pieces before leaving those in the forest for wild animals to feast on. The police recovered several parts on November 24 after a dog in the area was seen with a hand,” Singh said.

Police said the woman was not aware of Bhengra's marriage and had been forcing him to return to Khunti with her. After arriving in Ranchi on November 8, the duo went to Khunti, where Bhengra took her to a forest near his village.

“Under a plan, the man took her to Khunti in an autorickshaw near his home and asked her to wait. He returned with sharp weapons and strangulated her with her dupatta after raping her. He then cut the body into 40 to 50 pieces and left for his home to live with his wife,” Singh explained.

The mother had received a message from her daughter regarding her travel plans and, thus, became the key witness to identify her belongings. The police found a bag in the forest containing her Aadhaar card and some personal items.

“The mother suspected the man behind the crime, who, after being nabbed by the police, admitted to chopping the woman into pieces,” Singh said.

The incident has drawn parallels to the 2022 Shraddha Walker case, where a man killed his live-in partner, dismembered her body, and dumped the pieces in South Delhi’s Mehrauli forest.
