In Krishnanagar, Lucknow, a surprising robbery took place where a 24-year-old woman named Nilofa, leader of the gang was arrested for organizing a theft at a jewellery shop. The robbery, which occurred on December 31, was the last in the series of crimes Nilofar committed to maintain her relationship with her 22-year-old same-sex partner, Arshi.
Although Nilofar was uneducated, she smartly planned her robberies by pretending to be a rag-picker to collect information about possible targets. She would look for weaknesses in the shops' locks and CCTV cameras and make a plan for the thefts. Nilofar's gang, which included two men, Aman and Sirajuddin, would then carry out the robberies and share the stolen items among themselves.
The police had been closely following the gang after they stole valuables and cash from a jewellery shop owned by Ramendra Yadav in Alinagar. Four teams joined forces to track down the gang, ultimately capturing Nilofar and her accomplices near Ganga Kheda in the Para area.
During questioning, Nilofar admitted that she got involved in crime in 2018 after her parents rejected her relationship with Arshi. The couple had been living together in hotels, but Nilofar found it hard to meet Arshi’s needs, which pushed her into crime. Nilofar's strategy involved recruiting men to join her gang and offering them a bigger share of the stolen goods.
