The Hyderabad police are investigating a horrifying case where a man, Gurumurthy, confessed to killing his 35-year-old wife, P. Venkata Madhavi. The case has taken a shocking turn, with the accused claiming to have disposed of her body parts in different places, but no remains have been found yet.

Husband admits to crime but no evidence found

According to the police, Gurumurthy, an ex-serviceman from Andhra Pradesh, confessed to the crime on Wednesday. He claimed to have killed Madhavi by hitting her against a wall during a fight on January 16, causing her instant death.

In his shocking confession, he said he chopped her body into pieces using kitchen knives. He then boiled the parts in a pressure cooker for several hours and ground the bones using a mortar and pestle. Gurumurthy told the police he had thrown the flesh and powdered bones in various locations, including the nearby Jillelaguda Lake.

The police have so far recovered a pressure cooker, a water heater, and knives from Gurumurthy’s house. However, no body parts have been found. Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said, “We cannot go by mere claims. We are collecting all technical and scientific pieces of evidence. The case is under investigation.”

On January 18, Madhavi’s parents, accompanied by Gurumurthy, filed a missing person report. Gurumurthy initially claimed Madhavi left the house angrily after a fight. However, police became suspicious of his behaviour and questioned him, leading to his confession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch Praveen Kumar stated, “As of now, we don’t have any reasons to believe it was a premeditated crime. It seems like the result of a petty quarrel. We are questioning the suspect, and we have not recovered any body parts. We do not have enough clues.”

The case now depends on forensic and technical evidence to confirm Gurumurthy’s chilling claims. Police are continuing their search for body parts and more proof. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
