Police have arrested two people in Haryana's Rohtak for kidnapping and brutally killing a man. The victim, Jagdeep, was burned alive and buried in a bottomless pit by his house owner, Hardeep. According to NDTV, Jagdeep, who worked as a yoga instructor at Baba Mast Nath University, was allegedly having an affair with Hardeep's wife.
After a two-month investigation, police recovered Jagdeep's body on Monday. The probe started after a missing complaint was filed at Shivaji Colony police station.
"Later, we found that Jagdeep's body was kept in Dadri after he was abducted. Accused Hardeep and Dharampal have been arrested. Following their arrest, we recovered the body. The investigation is ongoing, and the postmortem will be conducted today," said Kuldeep Singh, in charge of the Crime Investigation Agency unit, as quoted by ANI.
"The victim was kidnapped and then buried alive. There are one or two more people involved in the crime, and our teams are working to catch them. The arrested suspects have been presented in court and are currently on remand," Kuldeep Singh added.
How the murder was planned
According to the report, Hardeep hired workers to dig a 7-foot-deep pit in Pantavas village of Charkhi Dadri, pretending it was for a borewell, while secretly planning his revenge. On December 24, he and his friends kidnapped Jagdeep while he was returning from work. They beat him up and took him to Charkhi Dadri, where they carried out the murder and buried his body in the pit.
Police made a breakthrough in the case after analyzing Jagdeep’s call records, which provided enough evidence to arrest Hardeep and his accomplices. Following their arrest, Rohtak police shared the accused’s pictures in a post on the social media platform X.
