Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being held at Pottawattamie County Jail. His arrest has led Indian law enforcement to coordinate with US authorities to have him deported or extradited to India to face charges.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy in India confirmed the reports, saying, "U.S. Embassy representatives have met with Indian law enforcement to discuss the case and are maintaining close communication with Indian officials."

Anmol Bishnoi was detained because there were issues with his travel documents, specifically a fake passport. Sources say that in May 2022, he fled India using a fraudulent passport under the name Bhanu Pratap, which was issued in October 2021 and set to expire in 2031.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had already requested his extradition from US authorities before his detention in California. He could be deported as well for using a fake passport. However, he is currently being held in a California jail due to discrepancies in his travel documents.

Who is Anmol Bishnoi

Anmol Bishnoi is the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bisnoi accused of being involved in several major crimes, including the murder of Baba Siddique and a shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's house in Mumbai. A Facebook account linked to Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the attack.

He is also the main suspect in the murder of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala. After the killing, he is believed to have escaped India using a fake passport. Although he was reportedly found in Azerbaijan a year ago, he managed to avoid arrest. His associate, Sachin Thapan, was extradited from Azerbaijan for his involvement in the murder case.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has offered a ₹10 lakh reward for any information leading to Anmol Bishnoi's arrest. Bishnoi is facing charges in two NIA cases filed in 2022.
