Balasubramanian Ramesh, a  73-year-old man from India, was arrested by authorities for allegedly sexually assaulting four women during a Singapore Airlines flight from the United States to Singapore. The incidents took place on November 18, involving the man attacking the woman seven times over a 14-hour flight. Ramesh has been taken into custody, and media reports say that if convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to 21 years.

On November 25, Balasubramanian Ramesh appeared before a Singapore court facing charges of sexual assault. It is alleged that he sexually harassed one woman four times, while the other three women were assaulted once. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

The assaults are said to have occurred throughout the November 18 flight. The first incident occurred at 3:15 am, followed by another assault five minutes later. Between 3:30 am and 6:00 am, he assaulted the second woman three times. The third and fourth women were reportedly harassed between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm.

Under Singaporean law, each sexual assault offence is punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine. In Singapore, people convicted of sexual assault can face caning, but those over 50 are exempt. Since Balasubramanian is 73, he will not face this punishment.

A similar incident took place in October in India where a 45-year-old man was apprehended by Chennai police for sexually assaulting a passenger on an Indigo flight.

A man named Rakesh Sharma was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a passenger on a flight from Delhi to Chennai. It was reported that the passenger, who was seated in the front window seat, was inappropriately touched by him. She immediately informed the flight attendants, and the accused was arrested upon the flight's arrival at its destination.
