A 28-year-old woman named Manisha died by suicide in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, earlier this week. The police said she was being harassed by her husband and in-laws for dowry. She consumed poison on Tuesday night and was found dead with a suicide note written on her own body.

Manisha had written her last words using a pen on her arms, legs, and stomach. In her message, she clearly blamed her husband and his family for her death. The note read: "Kundan and his family are responsible for my death."

Before taking her life, Manisha also recorded a video message. In the video, she was seen crying and explaining how her husband, Kundan, along with his mother, father, and brother, was troubling her for more dowry.

She said they were demanding a car and a large amount of cash, even though her family had already spent ₹20 lakh on the wedding and given a Bullet motorcycle as dowry. Manisha said they often beat her and even forced her to have an abortion.

She also accused her in-laws of trying to kill her by giving her electric shocks when she refused to meet their dowry demands.

Manisha got married to Kundan, a resident of Noida, in 2023. Just a few months after the marriage, the pressure for a dowry began.

In July 2024, Manisha left her in-laws' house and returned to her parents' home due to the constant harassment. Her family recently began discussing divorce. But Manisha told them she would not sign the divorce papers until her in-laws returned the dowry items.

Police are investigating the case.
